Dismantling the Ego

Egotistical_pride

It was Les Giblin who once said " We are all egotists".  He further went on to say that we are more interested in ourselves than in anything else in the world.  When you have a toothache, do you ever stop to think of the suffering people in Africa?  Of course not! Your situation is more important.

Sometimes we do things that we are not exactly proud of.  We wish we could erase what happened and we suffer from guilt.  Here are three ways we can handle our ego.

 1.       What happened, happened.  Accept the fact that you cannot change what happened.  You are who you are and all your experiences and programming in life have brought you to this point.

 2.       Bring it out into the light. Examine it. Take a cold hard look at it. Remember it’s not personal, it’s not about you, it’s about your behavior.

 3.       Learn the lesson.  It is not most important to recognize the behavior and work on refraining from repeating it in the future, but most importantly helping others by saving them from making the same mistakes.

So what questions are you asking yourself?  The conversation continues.
